GOAL SAFETY

The state soccer association (OYSAN) and the United States Youth Soccer Association (USYSA) require soccer clubs and leagues to adopt goal safety policies that refer to the CPSC guidelines for soccer goal safety.  Unfortunately, each year young soccer players are injured and even killed due to accidents involving portable soccer goals.

Please do not allow our young players or their siblings to climb or hang on the soccer goals at any time.  The portable goals can fall over and cause severe injury to anyone struck by the falling goal.  Almost every reported injury or death that has been documented, has involved players jumping on, climbing, or hanging on soccer goals.  Please do not be afraid to speak up if you see such unsafe activity.  You do not have to be a coach or administrator in the club to take action that involves keeping our players (or anyone) safe.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.
